OUI- Operating Under the Influence

|

When people think about drinking and driving, they commonly think of DUI or Driving Under the Influence. However, there is another charge related to drinking and driving that everybody should be aware of. OUI stands for Operating Under the Influence and goes even further than DUI to include any operation or physical control of a vehicle. This includes operating boats and is a commonly neglected danger in Arizona.

The lakes in Arizona are the perfect place to escape the heat and have some summer fun. Families and friends gather to party, to drink and to go boating together, but often forget the dangers associated with boat operation. The legal blood alcohol limit while operating a boat is .08 – the same as while driving a car. And, just like driving a car, a drunk boat driver is putting themselves and others at risk and can be charged with a Class 1 Misdemeanor if arrested.

If you face arrest or charges for Operating Under the Influence (OUI) contact Naegle & Crider Criminal Defense Attorneys immediately. Charlie Naegle is an experience lawyer who knows and understands OUI laws in Arizona and can help defend your rights.

When you’re out at the lake or on boats this summer, be safe and remember Naegle & Crider Criminal Defense Attorneys is here to help you.
