The following are the two sections of this law:

  • Anyone who has committed money laundering is subject to a maximum prison sentence of 20 years and a fine of up to $500,000.
  • If the criminal activity resulted in over $10,000, it will be punished according to 18 U.S. Code § 1956.

As far as the state of Arizona penalties are concerned, the following is a breakdown of the penalties for those guilty of money laundering in the first-degree, second-degree, or third-degree:

  • First-degree money laundering (Class 2 felony) – Knowingly initiating, organizing, managing, and or directing the scheme. First offense results in a maximum prison sentence of 12.5 years.
