Arizona DUI Arrests: Arrest Numbers Climb in 2011

|

Around this time every year, we get a look the Arizona DUI arrest numbers from the year prior. In 2011, the number of Arizona DUI arrests went up yet again. In fact, the number of Arizona DUI arrests has been climbing steadily since 2003. Here are some of the numbers as reported in an article on KVOA.com:

  • 2010 – 19,353 Arizona DUI arrests
  • 2011 – 27,125 Arizona DUI arrests

Based on the report from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the combined total number of regular DUI, aggravated DUI and extreme DUI arrests has also increased steadily since 2003.

Law Enforcement Cracking Down

These ever increasing Arizona DUI arrest numbers mean that Arizona law enforcement officers are getting better at focusing and identifying possible DUI offenders. These numbers also mean they are prosecuting more and more. Because of this Arizona residents and visitors must make sure that they understand Arizona DUI law before they decide to get behind the wheel of a car. Remember, with the DUI in the slightest law, you do not necessarily have to be over the .08 blood alcohol concentration level to be arrested for a DUI in Arizona.

If you live out of state, but get caught driving under the influence in an Arizona city like Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa or Phoenix, don’t think that you will get off easy. The prosecutor involved in your DUI case will probably attempt to prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. Arizona has always been known for its tough DUI laws and punishments are severe.
