Arizona ICE Official Arrested on Drug Possession Charges

|

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) official was recently arrested in Pinal County after a high-speed chase with police officers where the ICE officer allegedly tossed 10 bundles of marijuana out of the window of his agency vehicle, a DPS spokesperson said.

Jason Lowery, the arrested ICE officer, had been under investigation for weeks after officials received a tip from a drug smuggler about his involvement in the drug ring.

The chase ended when Lowery rolled his vehicle after the 45 minute chase. Another 4 bundles of marijuana were found in the vehicle upon further inspection. Lowery was booked into the Pinal County jail for drug smuggling and for fleeing from officers.

According to recent statistics, Lowery is not the only one facing these types of charges. In recent years, an estimated 1.5 million people have been charged with possessing, manufacturing, or distributing illegal substances.
